Quick eats are not mcdonalds

Fast food in France seems to be a relative term. Each "regular" meal here in Cannes means a minimum of two hours at the table, regardless if it's breakfast, lunch or dinner. The french like you to order right away, the food comes amazingly fast, you eat and then...you wait and wait and wait. It's called lingering. I love that they don't rush you from the table like in the states, however if you are in a rush it can be quite annoying. Luckily, being on vacation negates the need for rushing and promotes lingering.

As for fast food, the beach stands serve amazing sandwiches. Darby has become quite fond of the croque Monsieur and the beignet du nutella.

Kevin at our favorite beach stand getting our lunch straightened out...this whole ordering in French when you don't know the language can be quite tricky.

Darby's fav.

This morning we headed to our favorite coffee shop, Coolhuere. You can tell we have been frequent visitors, when the waiter chased a tourist to another table so we could have a better spot. Funny. I ordered my laté and tatin. They do know my kind of breakfast. Tatin is just a half a loaf of bread, butter and jam. Yesterday it was marmalade-today strawberry. The best thing is the orange juice. We ordered it this am and the waiter told us that we would wait a few minutes for the fresh squeezed. He ran to the market around the corner and, voìla, we have icy cold oj. Sublime.

I have been trying to get a nice pic of my two travel mates, alas- no luck yet.
